Darko announce new EP ‘Canvas’ and share music video for title track

Surrey progressive punks Darko have returned with a whole host of new music in tow. Today, the quintet have announced their forthcoming EP “Canvas”, set for release on 18th July via Lockjaw Records, and have shared a music video for the title track to celebrate. Pre-save the EP here.

The EP serves as the final piece of the conceptual puzzle that ties all of the band’s recent releases together, relating to their “Greyscale” and “Sparkle” EP’s both lyrically and thematically. Its first single is a love letter to the grassroots music scene, paying homage to the venues and promoters that are giving up and coming artists the space to blossom in an ever-changing industry.

Speaking on the new single, vocalist Tom West shares:

Financial risks are becoming more dangerous for often thankless DIY promoters, the backbones of the communities we love. This song had a nice bouncy energy so I wanted to explore a theme of gratitude rather than the usual misanthropy. I also figured it’d be nice to take a moment in our live set to thank the person taking the gamble and putting us on. Running shows can be so stressful, but like us musicians, promoters do it for the love. It doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us over the years.
