Danny Lomeli (formerly of Elysia) has passed away

Danny Lomeli, the guitarist for deathcore group Elysia, passed away, as per theprp. The band shared the heartbreaking news in a statement on July 30. In order to alleviate the financial burden of his final costs, this GoFundMe was started.

We are so sorry to announce the sudden passing of Elysia guitarist, Danny Lomeli. It can’t be put into words how much this hurts and how much we will miss him. Danny first joined the band in 2007 and we’ve all been inseparable friends with him ever since. He was an integral part in the reformation and reunion of the band. He put so much work into making it come to fruition and he loved each moment with every fiber of his being. 

Danny, this new reality of life without you is terrifying and heartbreaking. We are so grateful for the incredible new memories that the elysia reunion allowed us to make with you. The past year+ of relentless practicing, shows, and hanging out has been an unforgettable blessing. We’ve all wondered what the big meaning was to our reunion, what it represented, and what impact it would have on the band’s legacy. It turns out, none of that really matters. It was all just so we could spend more time together and feel so much more closer to you. That’s enough reason to do anything. We love you, Danny.

The American deathcore group Elysia is based in Shingle Springs, California. The band was founded in 2003 while its members were still in high school and was once known as Elysium’s Revenge. Despite repeated line-up changes, they have published two full-length albums, one EP, and two US tours since 2003. On June 10, 2008, the band released “Lion of Judas” through Ferret Records after settling into a more stable lineup. The group announced their reunion in 2013 after disbanding in 2008. “Masochist” was remastered and released by the band in May 2024, along with bonus tracks and an interview with vocalist Zak Vargas about the album.
