Copenhagen-based musician and producer Danheim, also known as Reidar Schæfer Olsen, has released “Heimferd,” the lead single and title track from his upcoming full-length album, scheduled for release on October 31 through Season of Mist. The track reflects Danheim’s evolving signature sound—a seamless blend of Nordic folk traditions with atmospheric, Viking-inspired layers rooted in cultural memory and instinct.

“Heimferd” distills the album’s essence as a journey defined not by mythological tales but by mood and ancestral resonance. It juxtaposes pounding, ritualistic percussion with more minimal, introspective interludes, yielding a sound that feels ancient and immediate at once. The single is entirely composed, performed, and produced by Olsen himself, underscoring his solo craftsmanship and dedication to personal and cultural expression.

Having amassed over one billion streams globally and featured across multiple seasons of the TV series Vikings, Danheim has solidified his position as a defining voice in Nordic folk and Viking-inspired music. The new single offers a glimpse into an album that moves fluidly between tempest-driven rhythms and hushed, atmospheric passages—crafting a sonic ritual that honors the past while exploring new creative territory.

The official music video for “Heimferd,” directed by Vesa Ranta and produced by Kaira Films, is now available online.
