Copenhagen-based producer Reidar Schæfer Olsen, better known as Danheim, has announced his upcoming full-length album titled “Heimferd”, set for release on October 31st, 2025 through Season of Mist. The record promises to carry listeners through an immersive sound journey rooted in Nordic tradition and ambient resonance.
“Heimferd” is described as a mood-driven cinematic experience rather than a straightforward mythological narrative. It fuses thunderous percussion with minimal drones, drawing on both ancestral memory and contemporary sensibilities. Tracks like “Stormdans” channel storm-like rhythms, while “Yggdrasil II” unfolds into expansive, haunting soundscapes.
Olsen frames the album as an inward journey: not toward a physical place, but toward his heritage and ancestry, honoring past paths while forging new ones. He solely composed, performed, and produced the record himself, crafting it as a personal letter to his roots.
The album will be available across CD, vinyl, and digital formats, offering fans various ways to experience its depths. With over one billion streams and a growing global following, Danheim continues to stand out as a leading voice in Viking-inspired Nordic folk music.
