As we reported a month ago, D Generation vocalist Jesse Malin had to cancel his UK and US solo tours, “due to an unexpected injury”. The unexpected injury had later been specified as “a serious back injury”. Now, the actual extent of this back injury has been made public: Jesse Malin suffered a rare spinal stroke, resulting in him being paralysed from the waist down. A fundraising campaign has been started, in order to help Jesse Malin covering “the enormous expense[s] of his immediate and long term care.” According to the fundraising campaign, “his diagnosis is inoperable”, though an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone magazine reveals that Jesse Malin is determined to walk and dance again:

“I’m not going to walk out of here tomorrow with a leather jacket and a cane and go hang out at the bar. It’s going to take a lot of work and a lot of being in a wheelchair.”

The aforementioned enormous expenses are amongst others related to his move from his current walk-up apartment to a new ADA-compliant one with an elevator, as he will be in a wheelchair when he is discharged from his current rehab centre later this month. For Jesse Malin, who is known for his charitable work, it is anything but easy to have a fundraising campaign of his own:

“It’s very hard for me to take back and be that person. […] I don’t want to be a burden, but I’m learning. Just laying here and not being able to walk, it’s very humbling.”
