UK progressive death metal band Cryptic Shift have released their latest single, “Cryogenically Frozen”, taken from the upcoming album “Overspace & Supertime”. The record arrives on February 27 through Metal Blade Records.

According to vocalist and guitarist Alexander Bradley, “Cryogenically Frozen” bursts forward with jazz fusion inspired twists. At the same time, it stays rooted in sharp death and thrash riffing. Fast leads and tight rhythms keep the momentum high throughout the track.

Lyrically, the single advances the story of the band’s character, The Recaller. The narrative moves through cybernetic shootouts and drifting dream states. However, the intensity eventually eases into a brief calm section. That moment prepares the listener for what follows next. The 29 minute “Stratocumulus Evergaol” stands as the album’s central piece.

“Overspace & Supertime” continues the conceptual path introduced on “Visitations From Enceladus”. Drummer Ryan Sheperson explains that the album unfolds as an alternate reality tied to the debut. As the story grows, the band sharpen their technical precision. They also blend their influences into what they describe as a full Astrodeath soundscape.

Formed in Leeds in 2015 by Bradley and Sheperson, Cryptic Shift built their name on progressive technical death thrash with a strong science fiction focus. Their debut received wide praise for its ambition and musicianship. Now, early reactions suggest the new record pushes that vision even further.
