UK progressive death metal band Cryptic Shift have announced their second full length album “Overspace & Supertime”. The record arrives on February 27 through Metal Blade Records. The band have also released a new single titled “Hexagonal Eyes (Diverity Trepaphymphaszym)”.
Formed in Leeds in 2015, Cryptic Shift grew out of a shared vision between vocalist and guitarist Alexander Bradley and drummer Ryan Sheperson. The band blend technical thrash and death metal with detailed science fiction themes. Their debut album “Visitations From Enceladus” came out in 2020 and helped push them onto an international stage.
“Overspace & Supertime” continues the story introduced on the debut but explores an alternate reality linked to those earlier events. Sheperson says the new material expands the narrative while sharpening the band’s Astrodeath sound. As a result, the album aims to feel heavier, tighter, and more immersive.
The album features production by Jack Helliwell and mastering by Greg Chandler of Esoteric and My Dying Bride. Artist Jesse Jacobi created the cover artwork, which visually mirrors elements from the debut. Bradley describes the new single as the band’s most extreme work so far, combining technical aggression with returning story themes.
Cryptic Shift will celebrate the release with a show on February 28, 2026 at Boston Music Rooms in London, UK. The band will also appear at Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore, MD in May 2026.
