New York hardcore legends Cro-Mags have officially welcomed back drummer Pete Hines, who played on their 1989 album “Best Wishes”. Hines returns to the lineup after several decades away, with frontman and bassist Harley Flanagan expressing enthusiasm about revisiting music with someone who was part of a meaningful past.
The band recently concluded a summer run of headline shows and festivals across Europe. They are now preparing for a U.S. tour hitting the Midwest and East Coast, and will close out the tour with a performance at the CBGB Festival in Brooklyn, New York on September 27. The band’s current guitarists are Dominic DiBenedetto and Dave Sharpe.
In addition, “Wired For Chaos”, a documentary about Harley Flanagan’s life, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray (with unreleased special features), also becoming available on video-on-demand starting November 11.
Their recent discography includes “In The Beginning” (2020), their first studio album in twenty years, followed later that year by the “2020” EP.
Flanagan has also been involved in legal disputes over the rights to use the Cro-Mags name, claiming he founded the band in 1981 and holds trademarks dating from 2009, 2010, and 2017. He alleged past lineups were using the name without permission.
