CKY have issued an official statement regarding the departure of bassist Mike Leon, clarifying that the musician was not leaving voluntarily but was dismissed from the group.
Leon had previously announced his exit, citing a difficult working environment and internal conflicts. However, the band’s statement presents a different version of events, emphasizing that the decision came from CKY themselves.
Frontman Chad I Ginsburg had already commented on the situation via social media, suggesting that disagreements over touring and other practical matters contributed to the split. The newly released statement reinforces that Leon’s tenure with the band has officially ended by the group’s choice.
Leon joined CKY in the summer of 2025 and described himself at the time as a lifelong fan for whom performing with the band was a dream come true. His stint ultimately lasted only around half a year.
Despite the lineup change, CKY have indicated that their upcoming shows will proceed as planned, with the bassist position already covered for future tour dates.
