Circuit breakers and heartmakers – review of Call Me Amour’s self-titled EP

Author Benedetta Baldin - 4.2.2025

I hope you’re sitting down when you’re reading this review because this band that I’m going to introduce you is pretty explosive. I’m talking about Call Me Amour; they are releasing quite soon their self-titled EP, and this release shows a very promising path from this UK ensemble.

The EP is only five tracks but they cover a great range of emotions and frankly they’re too good to be labeled only as a metal band. They are not afraid to unite electronic elements in their tracks, and they deserve credit for carving the music exactly how it fits them, not as it fits some standard. Who are we to talk about rules anyway? Especially in art, whoever breaks the rules means that they’re willing to experiment and go beyond what’s done before.

My personal favourite has to be “Good Day” featuring Mikey Chapman (of Mallory Knox) because it has such a great vibe and it made me feel like the whole group had a lot of fun while working on this. The production, mixing and mastering of the EP is very well done, so kudos to Call Me Amour for delivering not only a thrilling release but also a well-prepared one.

This month, they’re also supporting Set It Off on their UK leg of the tour, and it makes me so sad that I won’t be able to attend any of the shows. For the lucky people who will go, I’m sure you’ll have the best time with these guys on stage! There’s nothing like a live setting to highlight even more the power of their music.

So mark your calendars on February 7th, because Call Me Amour are about to become a new sensation in alternative music. Their uniqueness, their resilience and their talent will bring these guys quite far, so we only need to wait and see what else they’re up to!
