Max Cavalera of Soulfly, formerly of Sepultura, has revealed that his daughter Christina has passed away with a post on his social media accounts. On behalf of the Chaoszine team, our deepest sympathies to Christina’s family, friends and loved ones.
It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that Max and Gloria and the entire Cavalera family announce the passing of their beloved daughter, sister, and mother Christina. After an enduring battle with illness, she has found peace with her two sons, Adam and Moses, and her brother Dana. She is survived by her two daughters, six brothers, (Nick, Jonathan, Richie, Jason, Zyon and Igor) and her sister Roxanne. Forever will Christina be remembered as a pioneer in the metal, punk and rock music world, as she worked from the underground to stadiums and arenas around the globe, as well as a lifelong inspiration and forerunner for women in the music business. She had a smile that could brighten any room, a passion for life that was unmatched, and a ferocity of spirit that made her remarkable and memorable. Those who met her know this to be true. We will miss you until the end of days Christina. Please be respectful of our peace and privacy during this difficult time, and our journey forward without her.
From 1997 until 2021, she served as Soulfly‘s personal assistant and tour manager. Gloria Cavalera’s stepdaughter is Christina. She was married to Bojan Stojanović, and before him, Christina was formerly married to Alex Newport and has two kids, Jadore and Nadja. She also had a son, Moses, who died eight months after birth in 2004. The song “Moses” from Soulfly‘s “Prophecy” was inspired by his birth, and their subsequent album, “Dark Ages”, were greatly impacted by his passing.
