Chinese Mongolian progressive metal band Nine Treasures known for blending heavy metal with traditional Mongolian sounds, is gearing up to release their new full-length album, “Seeking the Absolute,” on October 24th through Metal Blade Records. The record marks the group’s first globally distributed album under the label.

The band also dropped the first single from the album, “Real Dream”, accompanied by a new video and pre-order options. The track, written in Los Angeles, represents a creative breakthrough for the band. Vocalist and guitarist Askhan described it as a rebirth that broke through a long creative bottleneck, bringing back confidence and a renewed sense of direction.

Nine Treasures formed in 2010 in Inner Mongolia and quickly gained attention for their use of traditional Mongolian instruments—like the balalaika, tovshuur, and morin khuur—as well as throat singing entwined with heavy metal riffs. The band frequently plays over 100 festivals and headline shows annually across Asia, performing in front of crowds as large as 50,000.

On “Seeking the Absolute,” the band sought to tap into those electrifying, expansive moments that open up new realms of possibility while invoking the focus and reflection needed to complete the puzzle of self-discovery. Hence the title, which reflects an inner journey toward truth and fulfillment. Askhan, who practices Buddhism, said that the title track grapples with the themes of faith and the search for universal truth—both a personal reflection and a message of encouragement hoped to resonate with listeners.

Musically, the album pushes the band’s style further into progressive territory, blending headbanging intensity with atmospheric depth. Askhan’s guitar technique integrates Mongolian playing logic to inject fresh energy into their evolving sound—a flexible approach that could align well with bands like Tool or Amon Amarth on tour.
