Nine Treasures, a metal group from Inner Mongolia, has signed a record deal with Metal Blade Records. The band has achieved significant success with three albums, millions of streams, and appearances at European festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Woodstock Poland.
Founded in 2010 by singer-guitarist Askhan Avagchuud, the band combines heavy metal and traditional Mongolian instruments in a unique way. The band’s music combines traditional vocal style with Mongolian throat singing, and the traditional band instruments are accompanied by balalaika and morin khuur (horsehead violin).
The band has performed at several festivals and shows in Asia every year. “We are excited about the move to Metal Blade. American and European heavy music bands have always inspired us,” says Askhan Avagchuud.
The band will release its new album on Metal Blade in 2025, an album that has been in the works for more than five years. Before that, the band will re-release their compilation album “Awakening From Dukkha”, as well as a re-mastered version of their 2017 album “Wisdom Eyes”. Both reissues will be released digitally on 10 January 2025.
Askhan, a practitioner of the Buddhist religion, says the band’s goal is to bring comfort and relief to people’s suffering through music. “We want Nine Treasures to bring positive and inspiring energy to the world,” says Askhan.
The band’s name refers to the nine treasures in ancient Mongolian folktales.
