Massachusetts sludge juggernauts Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean have released a new single titled “An Adornment of Light”. The track expands their bleak and crushing sonic approach even further.

Over the past decade, the band have earned a solid reputation in the underground. Their sound leans on massive riffs and slow, suffocating atmospheres. Releases like the 2024 album “Sisyphean Cruelty” and the 2025 compilation “I Tried Catching You But You Fell Through Me, Consumed By the Vitriol of Life” helped shape that identity.

With “An Adornment of Light”, the band deliver their first standalone single of 2026. While specific details remain scarce, the title hints at familiar themes. As a result, fans can expect dense textures and oppressive pacing to take center stage once again.

The new release follows a period of growing attention from the sludge and doom underground. At the same time, the band continue to attract listeners drawn to their uncompromising heaviness and deliberate songwriting. Their recent output has reinforced their place within the heavier fringes of extreme metal.

“An Adornment of Light” is available now below and digital platforms.
