Darksynth musician Carpenter Brut‘s early 2027 European/UK tour will feature direct backing from gold-certified Canadian alternative metal group Kittie, as per theprp. That bill will be opened by VMO, and tickets will go on sale this week on staggered dates.
Franck Hueso considers the beginnings of Carpenter Brut as “a joke,” and claims that the name Carpenter Brut is a play on words, taken from the surname of filmmaker and composer John Carpenter and the champagne Charpentier Brut. The desire to compose music on his own instead of in a band gave rise to the concept of electronic music. BlackBvs Records released Carpenter Brut‘s EPs in 2012 and 2013. The third EP, in 2015 (and all subsequent releases, as of April 2020), were published on Hueso’s own No Quarter Prod label. The label was established with the goal of preserving Hueso’s autonomy and authority over his own persona and creations.
Additionally, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number’s soundtrack featured two songs from “TRILOGY (Le Perv and Roller Mobster).” The song “Escape from Midwich Valley” used in a trailer for the game. Raphaël Hernandez and Savitri Joly-Gonfard, who were operating under the name Seth Ickerman, asked Hueso to use the song “Hang’em All” as the soundtrack for a trailer they were creating for the Festival de l’Etrange. Ickerman went on to direct all of Carpenter Brut’s music videos for the first three EPs, and Hueso permitted usage of the song since he was aware of the duo and appreciated their “DIY and smart” approach to their work.
