French synthwave act Carpenter Brut has announced a new studio album titled “Leather Temple”, which will arrive on February 27 via No Quarter PROD and Virgin Records. The release completes the Leather trilogy that started with “Leather Teeth” in 2018 and continued with “Leather Terror” in 2022.
This time, Carpenter Brut pushes the concept even further. While earlier chapters leaned into slasher horror and anti hero brutality, “Leather Temple” shifts the setting toward a bleak, futuristic world set in the year 2077. As a result, the album explores a post apocalyptic society divided between wealthy city elites and those left to survive on the margins. Themes of authoritarian control, class division and rebellion run through all ten tracks.
Musically, the record blends heavy electronic pressure with influences pulled from 80s glam rock, new wave synths and oversized arena style electro. At the center of the story is Bret Halford, who returns as the main character and ties the entire saga together in a more triumphant way than before.
Alongside the album announcement, Carpenter Brut has shared the title track “Leather Temple”, offering a first look at the darker atmosphere and narrative direction of the record. In addition, the artist has confirmed an extensive tour schedule. European dates will run throughout March, followed by a North American tour with Health and Desire.
