A Cameo video request recently deceived British politician Nigel Farage, who currently leads the UK Reform UK party, into honoring the late Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins, as per theprp. Farage seemed unaware of Watkins’ recent murder in prison and the high-profile nature of his horrible child sex-related offenses, which saw him spend the remainder of his life behind bars.
According to Metro, someone requested the video under the pretense that Farage was honoring a bogus Ian Watkins and claimed to have paid Farage £98 on Cameo for the homage. According to a Metro interview with the accused prankster, he questioned Farage’s character for accepting the money and moving forward with the film despite several clear red flags, suggesting that his intentions for getting the video made were somewhat politically motivated.
This was what the script said:
This message is to pay tribute to Ian Watkins, a good man, a really good guy who is very much in contact with me. He loved his children and will be sorely, sorely missed by them forever. He will always hold a very special place in everybody’s heart.
Remember what he always said ‘Mad Lolz’, well, tell ya what, that just about sum up the world doesn’t it?’
Sorry for your grief but please try and keep some happy memories.
According to reports, Watkins used the term “mega lolz” to unsettlingly allude to his crimes in a message to a fan.
When Farage realized he had been tricked, he sent a message via Metro to the prankster.
Thank him for the money. There are lots of Ian Watkins. Tell him to send more. I did alter his request.
