Finnish post-metal band Callisto will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their acclaimed 2006 album “Noir” with a special performance at Savoy Theatre in Helsinki on September 18, 2026.
Originally formed in Kokkola in 2001 and later relocating to Turku, Callisto gained international attention in the mid-2000s with their atmospheric and progressive take on post-metal. “Noir”, the band’s second full-length album, has become a defining milestone in their career and remains a fan favorite to this day.
Reflecting on the album, the band notes that it has consistently stood out in the feedback they receive from listeners.
“Noir is probably the album that has generated the most feedback over the years. People send us covers of songs from the album, and it’s often the first thing that comes up when we meet someone who has a memory or an opinion about our early years.”
The upcoming anniversary concert will feature “Noir” performed in its entirety from start to finish possibly for the only time ever. The band also promises special elements inspired by the original album’s production, including brass instruments and appearances from musicians who were involved in the band during the era when the record was created.
The cinematic concert hall of Savoy Theatre will offer a unique setting for Callisto’s evolving and expansive post-metal sound, complemented by visuals inspired by the atmosphere of the album.
“Metal concerts are very rare at Savoy Theatre, whereas jazz orchestras perform there quite often. Perhaps the jazz influences on Noir act as a kind of missing link here.”
The band also notes that this will be the first time Callisto performs in a fully seated concert hall.
