Burn Eternal, the eagerly awaited new project, marks the reunion of Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz with former vocalist Howard Jones. They have completed work on their debut album collaboratively, as per theprp. Currently, the duo is exploring various label options to facilitate the album’s release. Dutkiewicz discussed this process recently during an interview with TotalRock’s ‘Louder’.
It’s all ready to go. There’s still no release date, but it’s done. It’s done. We’re still in the midst of talking with some record labels as well, so obviously that needs to be shored up as well. It’s in the process, though. It’s in the process, yep.
But what can we expect from this project?
It sounds a bit like Killswitch, obviously, because I’m a songwriter for Killswitch. Yeah, it sounds like me and Howard.
Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore ensemble originating from Westfield, Massachusetts, established in 1999. The current lineup comprises vocalist Jesse Leach, guitarists Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz, bassist Mike D’Antonio, and drummer Justin Foley.
Howard Jones served as the lead vocalist from 2002 to 2012, succeeding Leach, who was the founding vocalist but departed after two albums. The band gained prominence with their 2004 album, “The End of Heartache”, which reached number 21 on the Billboard 200 and received a gold certification from the RIAA for over 500,000 units shipped in the United States.
The title track of that album was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2005 for Best Metal Performance. Their fourth studio effort, “As Daylight Dies”, achieved platinum status in the US and included the platinum-selling single “My Curse“.
Jones left the band in 2012, prompting Leach’s return to his original role as vocalist. The 2013 album, “Disarm the Descent”, marked Leach’s first release since rejoining and reached the top 10 in the US, featuring the Grammy-nominated track “In Due Time“.
The band’s ninth studio album, “This Consequence”, was released on February 21, 2025.
