Canadian emo/post-hardcore outfit Boys Night Out is officially back in the studio, working on their first full-length album since 2007. The band confirmed the news via Instagram at the end of May, announcing they’ve begun recording at Baby Pink Noise Studio.
The group’s last studio album, the self-titled “Boys Night Out”, dropped in 2007 through Ferret Music. They followed it up with the “Black Dogs” EP in 2016, only to retreat into silence shortly thereafter. But in 2024, the band made a surprise comeback with a set at Furnace Fest in Birmingham, Alabama — their first show in nearly eight years and a symbolic fresh start.
Frontman Connor Lovat-Fraser revealed that the reunion was sparked by personal tragedy. His partner, Julia Mary MacIsaac, was murdered in March 2024. According to Lovat-Fraser, reconnecting with the band became a way to honor Julia’s memory and process the grief.
Following their return at Furnace Fest, Boys Night Out have remained active with select performances and tours. In spring 2025, they hit the road as support for Armor For Sleep‘s 20th anniversary tour celebrating “What To Do When You Are Dead”. During that run, the band also teased plans for a North American tour of their own, commemorating 20 years of their seminal album “Trainwreck”.
There’s no release date for the new record just yet, but fans can look forward to the band’s first full-length release in nearly two decades.
