San Francisco post-black metal band Bosse-de-Nage have announced their first new full-length album in eight years. The record, titled “Hidden Fires Burn Hottest”, will be released on March 6, 2026 via The Flenser, marking another chapter in the band’s long-running collaboration with the label.
At the same time, the band have released the lead single “No Such Place”. The track highlights a shift in focus toward atmosphere and emotional tension. While aggression still plays a role, it no longer drives the music alone.
The band worked on “Hidden Fires Burn Hottest” over several years, with early ideas dating back to 2018. Jack Shirley recorded the album at Atomic Garden East. Richard Chowenhill of Agriculture handled mixing and mastering duties. For the first time, vocalist Bryan Manning wrote all lyrics before recording began, which gave the band more freedom during the writing process.
After the tightly controlled approach of “Further Still”, Bosse-de-Nage chose a looser direction this time. The new songs leave more space to breathe and rely on dynamics rather than constant volume. As a result, quieter passages play as important a role as the heavier moments. The album also includes “Mementos”, which the band describe as their first love song.
Instead of following a single theme, the album pulls from personal emotions and private experiences. The band do not aim to explain those feelings directly. Instead, the songs ask listeners to trust their own reactions.
