Bonginator drops new single “Short Ass Bus” with Big Ass Truck and Ignominious

Boston stoner death metal act Bonginator has just released “Short Ass Bus”, a new single featuring guest vocals by Abel Abarca of Big Ass Truck and Colin Richardson from Ignominious. The song arrives ahead of their upcoming second album “Retrodeath,” which is due out October 24, 2025 on Testimony Records.

The track leans into the band’s signature blend of death metal with humor, riffs, and retro synth touches. Vocalist and guitarist Erik Thorstenn commented on the track’s concept: “When you were a kid, did you have to ride the short bus to school? Wait… that was just us?” He added that “this song is a banger … also the guitar solo is sick.” Thematically, the song plays with childhood memories, school bus awkwardness, and the band’s irreverent style.

The single was originally releases through SoundCloud in June 2025, but is now available alongside with a music video. According to the band, the new track is part of “Retrodeath,” an album said to fuse US death metal, synthwave elements, and 16-bit video game styling.
