Blackmore’s Night forced to postpone two shows

Ritchie Blackmore and his wife Candice Night formed the Renaissance-inspired rock group Blackmore’s Night, but two of their six-date East Coast tour dates have been postponed, as blabbermouth.net reports. The Queen in Wilmington, Delaware, on Thursday, November 20, and Newton Theater in Newton, New Jersey, on Saturday, November 15, have been canceled “due to medical reasons”; no more information is currently available.

British guitarist and songwriter, Ritchie Blackmore began his professional career as a session musician for Joe Meek and as a member of the instrumental band The Outlaws as well as a backing musician for pop singers Glenda Collins, Heinz, Screaming Lord Sutch, Neil Christian, Jerry Lee Lewis etc.. Blackmore was also one of the original members of Deep Purple, playing jam-style rock music which mixed his guitar riffs with Jon Lord’s organ sounds spotlighting his blistering guitar solos. During his solo career, he established neo-classical metal band  Rainbow which fused early music influences elements with hard rock. Rainbow gradually progressed to catchy pop style hard rock. In 1997, Blackmore formed the renaissance folk rock project Blackmore’s Night transitioning to more acoustic and vocalist-centered songs.

Although she’s done back-up vocals for such major bands as Deep Purple, Rainbow, William Shatner and Twang (the Hank Marvin Tribute album), Candice Night’s success was anything but overnight. In 1997, the talented lyricist and lead singer of Blackmore’s Night completed a musical project with legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore titled “Shadow of the Moon”. The album features acoustic renaissance music, a direction she thoroughly enjoyed. “This music is feel good, soul searching music,” says Candice. “Listening to it makes me appreciate the beauty in simple things that most of us overlook everyday. It has a magical effect. It makes me smile and it makes me cry, but listening to it always takes me on a different journey somewhere else. Being a part in creating such music is a reward in itself.” Since then, she has been featured on numerous cds ie:  Helloween, Avantasia, Beto Vasquez Infinity, Aina, etc.  She just released her 3rd award winning solo album, “Sea Glass”.
