Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day speaks out about ICE, Trump and more ahead of Super Bowl performance

Author Benedetta Baldin - 7.2.2026

Given the current situation of the globe, there was quite a stir when Green Day was announced to perform at the Super Bowl pregame ceremony, as per MetalInjection. Although the public expected Green Day to be vocal, guitarist and singer Billie Joe Armstrong has already gone above and above, and the band hasn’t even been on TV yet. Green Day will undoubtedly be starting the drama that is expected to develop throughout the night leading up to Latin musician Bad Bunny‘s halftime act tomorrow, February 7, as they open up the Super Bowl Opening Ceremony at 6 p.m. EST with Brandi Carlile and other artists.

Additionally, Green Day performed at the “Spotify-sponsored Super Bowl party” on February 6, before to the Opening Ceremony performance. While on stage, Armstrong used some scathing remarks directed at ICE agents. As he has done quite frequently in recent years, Armstrong not only changed the lyrics of “American Idiot” from “I’m not part of a redneck agenda” to “I’m not part of the MAGA agenda,” but he also made a reference to the Epstein files, which are currently the most talked-about topic in the world, by changing the lyrics from “the representative from California has the floor” to “the representative from Epstein Island has the floor.

To all the ICE agents out there, wherever you are, quit your shitty-ass job. Quit that shitty job you have. Because when this is over — and it will be over at some point in time — Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, JD Vance, Donald Trump, they’re gonna drop you like a bad fucking habit. Come on this side of the line.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see and report about what they will do at the Super Bowl performance tomorrow. It’s definitely going to be one for the books!
