Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong has announced he means to renounce his American citizenship after the Supreme Court’s ruling on Roe v. Wade, the legal precedent that protected women’s reproductive rights and their right to have an abortion. The court repealed the landmark decision on June 24, following a first-ever leak from the court in early May.

The frontman declared his intent to renounce U.S. citizenship on June 24, during his band’s concert in London, where Green Day played on their ongoing tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer.

“I’m fucking renouncing my citizenship. I’m fucking coming here. There’s just too much fucking stupid in the world to go back to that miserable fucking excuse for a country.

Oh, I’m not kidding. You’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days.”

Green Day has been critical of the U.S. and American politicians over the years, with songs like “American Idiot“, and more recently boasting a banner at their live shows which reads “Fuck Ted Cruz”.
