Between the Buried and me drop epic new single “Absent Thereafter” from upcoming album

Progressive metal titans Between the Buried and Me have just released a new single titled “Absent Thereafter”, the third track from their forthcoming eleventh studio album “The Blue Nowhere”, due September 12th, 2025.

Clocking in at over ten minutes, “Absent Thereafter” delivers a layered, intense, and dynamic listening experience that aligns with what BTBAM fans love—fusing aggressive riffs, rhythmic complexity, and intricate musical passages that push boundaries. The track kicks off an immersive voyage through the sonic landscape of The Blue Nowhere, showcasing the band’s knack for emotional depth and technical precision.

This release continues the earlier single “Things We Tell Ourselves In The Dark”, illustrating the band’s willingness to explore diverse influences ranging from funk grooves to orchestral textures. Recorded with longtime collaborator Jamie King, the album marks the band’s first as a four-piece lineup after guitarist Dustie Waring’s departure, and their debut under their new label home, InsideOut Music.

Vocalist Tommy Rogers has described the album as being more about a feeling than a specific concept, shaped by lyrical journal entries and fleeting thoughts that evolve alongside the music. Bassist Dan Briggs, who led the writing of “Things We Tell Ourselves In The Dark”, has noted the group’s focus on balancing funk-driven basslines with seamless dynamic shifts—a vibe that also runs through “Absent Thereafter”.

“The Blue Nowhere” arrives September 12th, 2025, with ten tracks, including “Absent Thereafter”, and promises a bold, emotionally charged exploration of sound. Expect multiple formats, including deluxe vinyl editions with bonus content.
