Austrian blackened death metal mainstays Belphegor have dropped a new single and music video titled “Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus”, marking their first release under a freshly signed deal with Reigning Phoenix Music. The video, directed by Thomas Keplinger, arrived alongside the track and delivers a ritualistic, visually intense experience that complements the band’s trademark sonic chaos.
Vocalist and guitarist Helmuth Lehner describes the song as a fusion of black and death metal, crafted to glorify the Devil with hypnotic force. It’s meant to reflect themes of passion, fire, and iron discipline—serving as an anthem of personal freedom and inner sovereignty. The track sets the tone for what promises to be a bold new era for the band under their new label partnership.
“Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus” is expected to lead into more new material following the band’s 2022 album “The Devils”. On the recording, Helmuth handles vocals, guitars, and bass, joined by guitarist Wolf and drummer James S. Mixing and mastering were done by Tue Madsen, further adding polish to the band’s signature sound.
