Nergal has recently appeared on Hardocre Humanism Podcast. In the interview, he spoke of the ethos of black metal and the importance of rebellion in art and in life.
But the highlight of the talk is when Behemoth‘s frontman spoke of women’s rights, at the light of recent setbacks to abortion laws both in the U.S.A. and in Europe:
“Hardly anyone in the metal scene talks about women’s rights. I know it’s a chauvinistic genre. And even talented and beautiful women that are very successful, they get a lot of shit from men, or are not being treated equal, which is absolutely wrong.”
Nergal continued:
“Like, for example, Alissa of Arch Enemy that we’ve just toured with, she’s got bigger balls than most metalheads I know and I’ve met. And she’s probably stronger and braver than I am, being a man.”
Nergal concluded his reasoning:
“Women deserve their rights, same as men.”
