Before The Dawn’s “Deathstar Rising” & “Rise of the Phoenix” to receive first-ever vinyl release

Reaper Entertainment is proud to announce the first-ever vinyl editions of two landmark albums from Finnish melodic death metal masters Before The Dawn. On August 21, 2026, both “Deathstar Rising” (2011) and “Rise of the Phoenix” (2012) will finally be available on vinyl for the very first time.

Representing two defining moments in the band’s history, these albums capture Before The Dawn at both the height of its creative momentum and the closing chapter of its original era.

Released in 2011, “Deathstar Rising” marked a significant leap forward for Before The Dawn. Fueled by growing confidence, extensive touring across Europe, and a renewed sense of purpose, the album showcased a band fully coming into its own. A major factor behind its powerful sound was the arrival of drummer Atte Palokangas, whose precise and energetic performance elevated the band’s songwriting to a new level. More than a decade later, songs from the album continue to be part of Before The Dawn‘s current live set, highlighting its lasting impact on both the band and its fans.

“Rise of the Phoenix”, released in 2012, stands as the final chapter of Before The Dawn‘s original incarnation. Written during a period of significant internal change, the album balances aggression, melancholy, and hope, reflecting both uncertainty about the band’s future and the creative freedom that defined the recording sessions. Looking back, songs such as “Throne Of Ice” also reveal the first musical elements that would later evolve into Wolfheart, making the album an important milestone in the artistic journey of Tuomas Saukkonen. Following its release, the band’s activities came to an end shortly thereafter, giving the album only a brief life on stage and leaving many fans feeling it never received the recognition it deserved.

More than a decade later, Reaper Entertainment is finally giving both albums the vinyl treatment fans have been requesting for years. Previously unavailable in the format and long out of print on CD, these first-ever vinyl editions celebrate two essential releases in the Before The Dawn catalogue and preserve an important part of the band’s legacy for collectors and longtime supporters alike.
