BastiBasti will release his second EP “Spiral Tapes II” on 31.10.2024 via Easthaven Records. The EP is now available to pre-order here.
The next single release “Menschenpark 2”, which once again takes you to the human park, is being released today. In his follow-up track, the fictional antagonist called “Mensch” frees himself and, like the devil himself, gathers an army of lemmings around him, only to destroy everything out of a base sense of revenge. A tragedy triggered by the naked ape – typically human.
Musically, the track sits somewhere between 90s new metal and quirky electro. “Have you forgotten what I’m capable of? I am Moloch, Leviathan, I am a human being, the end of the world!”, the song says.

Jack-of-all-trades BastiBasti is the frontman of the successful post-metal band Callejon, with whom he released six top 10 albums in a row.
Last year, he released his first solo EP, “Spiral Tapes I”, and is now seamlessly following on from its predecessor with the second part, “Spiral Tapes II”, and expanding his own sound many times over – between his industrial and alternative rock heroes such as Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode or Fever Ray with a juicy edge of dark metal. In terms of content, he offers his typical strengths: An unembellished view of society and the future with a penchant for the poetic. Despite the suitably gloomy sound, there is still room for party-ready alternative bangers with a little wink in the direction of Papa Roach‘s old tour companions and a small spark of hope.
He embeds all of this in a cinematic overall picture that is second to none. On the one hand, there is a musical epicness reminiscent of M83. On the other hand, there is the unconditional will to create his own work: he writes and produces all his songs himself, and is also responsible for the artwork and music videos. This passion is evident in each of the eight tracks on “Spiral Tapes II” and is almost unique in this form.
An extraordinary music video was created for the first single “Menschenpark” in a particularly meticulous process involving months of close collaboration between BastiBasti and 3D artist Cornelius Dämmrich. See for yourself:
