Kawaii metal band BABYMETAL‘s fifth studio album, “METAL FORTH,” which features a number of guests, made history by debuting at number nine on the Billboard 200. The opening ten of that U.S.-based chart is the first time an all-Japanese fronted band has done so. By moving 36,000 album-equivalent units—33,500 of which were attributable to record sales—the band was able to secure that rank. Of that amount, 2,500 were streaming-equivalent units, or 3.28 million on-demand streams in the US alone. Since “METAL FORTH” is packed with guests, BABYMETAL undoubtedly got some assistance from their buddies in accomplishing this achievement. Members of Slaughter To Prevail, Spiritbox, Electric Callboy, Polyphia, Bloodywood, and guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine are among those making an appearance. However, according to a press release, the album’s songs have already received over 200 million plays worldwide.
