Author & Punisher carries birdsong into darker territory on “Titmouse”

San Diego’s industrial metal project Author & Punisher, led by Tristan Shone, has released a new single “Titmouse” from new album “Nocturnal Birding”, out on October 3 through Relapse Records. You can listen to the single below and on streaming platforms.

The album’s concept is built around birdsong, with melodies and rhythms drawn from nature. Tracks like “Meadowlark”, “Rook”, and “Thrush” follow this theme, and “Titmouse” continues that exploration.

“Nocturnal Birding” also brings more collaborations than in previous releases, featuring contributions from Megan Oztrosits of Couch Slut, Fange, and Kuntari. The record has been mixed and mastered by Will Putney (Fit For An Autopsy, Gojira, Body Count), with striking cover art designed by Lucile Lejoly.
