Former Of Mice & Men singer Austin Carlile just dropped his first solo single, as per Lambgoat. Given that “2die4” is mentioned in one of his postings’ hashtags, “Twisted” appears to be the lead single of an upcoming EP or album. Carlile’s first musical release since leaving the band more than ten years ago is this one.
American singer Austin Carlile rose to fame as the lead vocalist of Of Mice & Men and Attack Attack!. He started coaching youngsters baseball in Costa Rica after leaving Of Mice & Men. He was a high school athlete who became interested in music after undergoing several surgeries as a teenager due to Marfan disease. Due to his Marfan syndrome and the physical impacts of his vocal performances, Carlile left Of Mice & Men in December 2016. Around 2006, while participating in local high school bands, Carlile met Johnny Franck, Andrew Whiting, Nick White, and Andrew Wetzel, who later founded Attack Attack! (formerly known as Ambiance).
Nick Barham, the brother of former Sleeping with Sirens drummer Gabe Barham, took Carlile’s position halfway through a 2008 tour supporting Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Confide, A Static Lullaby, and Showbread. Carlile claimed that he departed the band for “personal reasons,” but the band issued a different statement. Carlile formally announced the formation of his new band, Of Mice & Men, alongside bassist Jaxin Hall on October 8, 2009, the same day he declared he was leaving Attack Attack!. “Seven Thousand Miles for What?” was their debut album. Additionally, they covered Lady Gaga‘s “Poker Face” before releasing “No Really, It’s Fine” shortly after.
Austin and Jaxin soon began organizing the band’s other members. A Static Lullaby‘s lead guitarist Phil Manansala and Lower Definition‘s drummer Valentino Arteaga were among the band’s recruited members. Officially scheduled for release on February 23, 2010, their self-titled first album was postponed until March 9 in order to complete production. Due to his health issues and the need for major heart surgery, Austin was unable to tour with Of Mice & Men in 2010. Austin was replaced on the tour by Jerry Roush from Sky Eats Airplane. Even after Carlile was allowed to tour once more, Roush became a regular replacement.
