The first-ever vinyl edition of Audioslave‘s second album, Out of Exile, will be released via UMe on June 12, 2026, as per MetalInjection. Levi Seitz of Black Belt Mastering will remaster the historic record, which was first released in 2005. It will be available in two formats: a conventional 180g black vinyl edition and a limited D2C “Black Liquid Vinyl” pressing that is encased in a die-cut gatefold jacket and inspired by the album’s artwork. “Out of Exile” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its initial release on May 23, 2005, and was subsequently certified platinum by the RIAA. It was a turning point for the band, bringing together Chris Cornell with Brad Wilk, Tom Morello, and Tim Commerford of Rage Against the Machine.

Along with “Be Yourself” and “Your Time Has Come,” which both became mainstays of rock radio in the mid-2000s, the album yielded a number of notable songs, including “Doesn’t Remind Me” (which received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance). The record, which was co-produced with Rick Rubin once more, featured a band at its best, combining Cornell’s vocal prowess with his colleagues’ instrumental prowess. The band’s historic performance in Cuba, when they performed for free in front of over 70,000 spectators and became the first American rock group to perform outdoors in the nation, further defined the era. Later, the Live In Cuba DVD featured footage of the performance. The vinyl may be pre-ordered here.

American musician Christopher John Cornell is most recognized for being the main lyricist, rhythm guitarist, and lead vocalist for the rock groups Audioslave and Soundgarden. In addition, he had a solo career and worked on several soundtracks for films. Cornell founded Temple of the Dog, a one-off tribute band honoring his late buddy, musician Andrew Wood, and served as its frontman. According to a number of music writers, fan surveys, and other musicians, Cornell is among the best rock vocalists of all time.
