Following the release of their album “Sunder“, Finnish modern metal visionaries Atlasreturn with their new single ‘Bittersleep‘. The track marks the band’s first new release since the album arrived in February 2026. Alongside the single, Atlas are releasing an official lyric video on YouTube, while a matching ‘Bittersleep’ T-shirt is available through the band’s official webstore.
“I die in my dreams, endlessly. Waiting for you, my Anemone.”
With these words, ‘Bittersleep‘ opens the door to a dark and emotionally charged world. Atlas combine powerful melodies with crushing heaviness, creating a song suspended somewhere between longing, pain and surrender. ‘Bittersleep’ is deeply rooted in the band’s distinctive sound: atmospheric modern metal collides with monumental dynamics and melodies that reveal their full impact when you completely surrender to them.
Following the release of “Sunder”in February 2026, ‘Bittersleep‘ opens a new chapter for Atlas. The band remains true to its musical identity, whilst consistently developing its sound on an atmospheric level. Where Sunder explored themes of death, healing, rebirth and faith across a vast and immersive album, ‘Bittersleep‘ focuses on a deeply personal moment caught between dream and reality, intimacy and loss.
‘Bittersleep‘ embodies the distinctive connection between Finnish melancholy and modern metal heaviness that has established Atlas as a unique voice within the current Nordic metal scene. The five-piece band combines the rawness and mysticism of Finnish folklore and poetry with crushing rhythms, colossal production and captivating melodies. Their self-defined approach, which they have dubbed Northcore, moves between modern metal, metalcore and deathcore, drawing influences from artists such as Deftones, HIM, Orbit Culture, Sleep Token and Humanity’s Last Breath.
With ‘Bittersleep‘, Atlas take the next step in their journey. A song for everyone who doesn’t simply listen to music but allows themselves to disappear into it.
A new chapter is also beginning for Atlas on the live front. Starting January 2027, the band will join The Rasmus as special guests on their major ‘Weirdo’ EU/UK-tour, bringing their distinctive blend of Nordic atmosphere and modern heaviness to international audiences. In January 2028, Atlas will embark on their own ‘Sunder’ headline tour, taking their latest album to stages across Europe and UK. See a full list of upcoming dates below, and find tickets here.
