Asking Alexandria used to be such a finely scripted romance, now they’re serving us some good drama

I love drama. I love band’s drama. Otherwise I mean, I wouldn’t be working in a news outlet. So, today’s menu is being offered by British band Asking Alexandria. Recently, their fan base has been in turmoil due to frontman Danny Worsnop’s poor performance at the band’s appearance on June 15th at the “Vans Warped Tour” in Washington, DC. Worsnop was accused of using a lot of backup tracks at times and phoning in the set. Bassist Sam Bettley indirectly apologized as a result of the intense criticism. According to others, Worsnop’s uninspiring set wasn’t an isolated incident (that’s not good, if you ask me). Asking Alexandria published a video on social media that featured a snippet from the controversial set, with the words “it’s never f*cking good enough” and “it’s never f*cking enough” flashing across the screen repeatedly.

Worsnop doesn’t seem to have publicly addressed the issue, and he infamously only seems to use social media to advertise his country-style solo work. Their former frontman Denis Stoff has stepped in on the issue, sharing a statement and many video clips on Instagram in a noteworthy new round of criticism directed at Worsnop and the band. From 2015 to 2016, Stoff briefly took Worsnop’s place in the band. Worsnop later accused Stoff of lip-synching while he was in the band, thus Stoff’s departure wasn’t without incident. This is what he posted:

Hey fam. I don’t even know where to start here.
I simply couldn’t ignore the AA situation that’s circling around the internet right now. First of all, I’d like to say thank you for the amount of love that you all showed me in the comments. I appreciate you all.

Now let’s get to it.
I’ve seen the videos, I laughed my tits off, and I loved it. Like hundreds of people mentioned in the comments, this is what they always sounded like live since the beginning of their career. I was rolling on the floor laughing years ago when Danny said that I was performing to his backing tracks which was an awful and a 100% fake statement.

As you can see in their Warped Tour 2025 show, Danny is clearly having tons of backing tracks in their live set and is clearly incapable of giving a good performance to the people who paid money for their tickets and simply wanted to see a good show.

Here’s a few video performance comparisons that show a drastic difference in skill and effort showed on stage.

Stoff continued to voice his financial complaints with the band after expressing gratitude for the remarks calling for him to take Worsnop’s place once more.

But unfortunately, I would never return to a band that has still NEVER presented a single royalty statement for ‘The Black: album and has failed to pay out an estimated $5,000,000 of my profit share, as stipulated in the contracts I signed with them at the time. This includes revenue from song authorship, sales, streams, deals, show tickets, performance guarantees, and worldwide merchandise sales.

I have sent countless email requests regarding this situation to the band and their representatives, all of which have been ignored for nearly 9 years.

To say the least, back in 2015—2016, I was misled into believing that the business side was transparent and that I would receive all of my royalties in full and on time.

People never know what’s happening behind the curtain.

For almost a decade, I stayed silent and ignored all the witty comments that were meant to cover up my departure from AA back in 2016, sweep my money under the rug, and help the band move forward without any public drama.

But now, considering everything that has happened over time, I simply can’t help but share the truth with you.

Thank you so much for your continuous support.
I love you all dearly.

What’s gonna happen next? I guess we’ll just wait and see.
