2024 proved to be a turbulent year for As I Lay Dying‘s frontman Tim Lambesis, marked by the complete dissolution of his band when four members (Phil Sgrosso, Ryan Neff, Ken Susi, and Nick Pierce) departed, leaving him as the sole remaining member. Most departing members hinted at moral and personal challenges during their time with the band.
The situation intensified in late November when private footage of Tim and his estranged wife Dany surfaced online, showing heated arguments and Tim exhibiting erratic behavior. Lambesis responded by claiming these were “public attacks” on his character, released in retaliation after he filed for divorce. He alleged experiencing verbal and mental abuse from Dany over three years and mentioned filing both a restraining order and initiating a domestic violence investigation.
This controversy follows Lambesis’s previous legal troubles – in 2013, he was imprisoned for attempting to hire an undercover police officer to murder his then-wife. After his release, he reformed As I Lay Dying, though the band experienced similar mass departures between 2020 and 2022.
