After finishing their current touring obligations, As I Lay Dying anticipates releasing their ninth studio album, as per theprp. The metalcore group is currently honoring the 20th anniversary of “Shadows Are Security” with a contentious Russian tour. Later this month, the trio will perform in Israel to wrap out that run. Following that, they want to concentrate on their most recent comeback album. After a dramatic second mass departure of members in 2024, As I Lay Dying‘s lineup was once again reformed in 2025 under the leadership of the always controversial Tim Lambesis. Bassist/vocalist Chris Clancy discussed the band’s development with their upcoming full-length album in a recent interview with Egor Erushin.
We’ve got all the songs ready. We’ve got way more songs than we need, and we’ve been whittling through ’em. So we’re gonna sit down while we’re on the road, actually, and kind of do some more development to the songs. And when we get back [home after the tour], we’re gonna really start recording it. So we were gonna start recording it in February, but we thought, well, as we’re all together, we can kind of develop ideas together as a group and go from there. So it’s gonna be a busy tour, for many reasons. But we’ve got a lot of hours when we’re traveling.
Tim Lambesis stated:
I will say this — as soon as we get home from this tour, it’s our highest priority to focus on that. We cleared everything up so that this is entirely the focus after this.
Additionally, the pair revealed that at least one or two of their songs have a throwback vibe that appears to have been influenced by the band performing “Shadows Are Security” on tour both this winter and last year.
