The second new song from As I Lay Dying‘s most recent lineup has now made its web debut, as reported by theprp. This song, “If I Fall,” comes after the release of “Echoes” last month, which marked the beginning of the metalcore group’s most recent phase. This new song’s visual is making its debut with Napalm Records, which is an intriguing development. As I Lay Dying dissolved once more in the latter part of last year because to the enormous dispute surrounding singer Tim Lambesis. However, Lambesis was the only member of the band this time due to his purported conduct, and a full roster of musicians was later added to support him. As a result, the contentious group’s current lineup consists of:
Vocals/guitar: Tim Lambesis
Vocals/bass: Chris Clancy (Mutiny Within
Guitars: Bill Hudson (NorthTale, Tommy Vext)
Guitars: Don Vedda
Guitars: Jack Daniels (War Of Ages)
Drums: Tim Yeung (Tommy Vext, ex-Divine Heresy)
Following Lambesis’ release from prison, the remaining band members went on to form Wovenwar, which included vocals by Shane Blay of Oh, Sleeper fame. They eventually ended that group and returned to As I Lay Dying. However, that reunion was brief because most of the members of that lineup disagreed with Lambesis and started leaving about 2020, without Sgrosso. With their numbers reduced, Lambesis and Sgrosso would rebuild the team until the following lineup collapsed in the latter part of last year due to fresh controversies and heightened scrutiny about Lambesis and his polarizing behavior.
Since releasing their return single “Echoes” earlier, Lambesis has once again reconstructed the As I Lay Dying lineup with entirely new musicians. Lambesis may be heard personally answering a fan who said that they missed the “old members” in the comment below. Lambesis’ reply was as follows:
here are still a couple Wovenwar records if you want to hear what they do without me. Otherwise, if you close your eyes and listen to the new song it’s almost like they didn’t matter nearly as much as everyone thinks they did.
I hope you’re able to enjoy the path ahead with us.
It’s unclear whether he really meant that remark because the screen capture of the response that Lambesis allegedly posted on his Instagram story included the following additional caption:
Just having fun, I’m not that serious. But I hope people can list to music with their ears instead of their eyes.
