Since 2024 As I Lay Dying is reportedly already signed up for upcoming festival sets, it might as well be a work in progress. And that’s even though Tim Lambesis, the band’s singer, is currently the only remaining member. The lineup for the Welcome to Rockville event next year is already rather impressive, but over the weekend, several bands were announced, including the troubled As I Lay Dying. Given that everyone left the band and that some people suggested that Lambesis was the direct cause, that is a rather intriguing turn of events. Lambesis’s desire to bring the band on stage makes sense. There will be new songs to complement their next album, “Through Storms Ahead”, which will be released this Friday. Their initial plan was to embark on a tour this month, but when As I Lay Dying went awry, that plan was canceled. The abrupt departures of the band’s guitarist Ken Susi, drummer Nick Pierce, tour manager Alex Kendrick, and bassist and clean vocalist Ryan Neff are to blame for all of this. Phil Sgrosso, the band’s longtime guitarist, eventually departed the group days after the others, but his statement clarified why. The band’s only scheduled performance is Welcome to Rockville 2025, but I’m sure we’ll learn more about their future live plans and potential new members in the months to come.
