As Everything Unfolds announce new album and reveal first single

As Everything Unfolds are proud to announce the release date of their new album, “DID YOU ASK TO BE SET FREE?”, scheduled for 10 April 2026 via Century Media.

To celebrate the announcement, a new single, “GASOLINE“, is also being released today:

Gasoline is a story about that indefinable, confusing human connection you have with another person. That soulmate feeling, that mutual connection with a stranger, almost as if you were meant to be part of each other’s lives. Throughout the song, we explore an explosive connection, the mental process, the refusal to want it and the need to walk away from it, even if it seems wrong. We desperately try to stay on our own path in life, ignoring this fatal feeling, however heartbreaking and soul-destroying it may be. This idea ties in perfectly with the concept of the relationship between Count Dracula and Mina in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, that otherworldly, toxic and predestined love. As with Set In Flow, we used the story to visually inspire the music video, whose images are homages to moments from the 1994 film.

“DID YOU ASK TO BE SET FREE?” is a deeply personal album, shaped by pain, trauma, escapism and the slow and uncomfortable process of confronting reality. Written during a period of profound upheaval, the album documents a journey from emotional security and creative flow to loss, numbness and disorientation, before gradually finding movement again. Inspired by the idea of maladaptive daydreaming and fantasy as both refuge and trap, the songs explore addiction, self-sacrifice, burnout, fractured relationships, and the question of whether freedom is something to be desired or feared. Drawing inspiration from cinema, literature and subconscious writing, the album changes sonically and lyrically over time, reflecting real change rather than resisting it. The result is an album that offers no clear resolution, but instead captures the fragile and ongoing act of learning to exist, suffer and move forward.
