An alchemical masterpiece – review of “Nagalite” by Lili Refrain

I’m quite proud to be Italian. There are definitely bands from all over the world which I like, but sometimes talent is just waiting to be discovered right outside my front door. And that’s the case for this absolutely incredible artist named Lili Refrain, who is about to release a new album titled “Nagalite” on March 27th, 2026.

So, rightfully, you would ask me: what kind of genre is Lili Refrain? Well, the good news and the bad news is that she’s so spectacular, she can’t be placed into a single genre. She delivers some atmospheric, black, heavy and symphonic metal, and yet that wouldn’t even begin to describe her genre. You just have to see it, or rather, you have to hear it. And see it performed in front of you.

“Nagalite” is just four tracks, but they are more than enough to pierce their way into your soul. Lili‘s voice and her instruments are a guide for us lost souls, and trust me that the journey is going to be quite sensational. The operatic “Exuvia” starts the path, then comes the single “Nagal“, which I’ve been enjoying since it was released.

Coil” is an electronic and immersive track, but the real cherry on top is the closing track “Lithos“, which shows why Lili Refrain is such a versatile and elegant artist. Few can hold tension between the mythic and the intimate with such grace, but Lili has long mastered that balance. Here, she elevates it.

So don’t miss out on this upcoming album, because “Nagalite” will keep you company during the rollercoaster that is life. “Nagalite “is a profound, beautifully crafted work — a suite that feels both ceremonial and deeply human. Its production is immaculate, its symbolism rich, its emotional resonance undeniable.
