Belgian post-metal band Amenra is making a comeback with the release of two EPs “De Toorn” and “With Fang and Claw” on March 28 via Relapse Records. Now the band has released a new single called “Forlorn”.
The song is taken from the “With Fang and Claw” EP, which explores the band’s earlier output and merges into their current being, showing the direction for the upcoming “Mass VII” album.
The new EPs represent a variety of soundscapes, compositional styles and moods. They offer a journey into the band’s rawer early days, as well as a glimpse into their future as one of the most fascinating experiences of their genre.
Vocalist Colin H. Van Eeckhout says the “De Toorn” EP completes the “De Doorn” project that began in 2019. The album highlights the band’s cultural heritage and origins. Its cover art refers to the early days of the band and the “Mass I” album.
Both EPs were recorded at the same time in the Belgian Ardennes studio with the “Mass VI” album. Van Eeckhout says the EPs seem like a welcome decision as the band prepares for a fresh start in a career that has spanned almost three decades.
