Cooper invented a shocking, grandly theatrical style of hard rock. The ensemble produced a stage production with electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood, and boa constrictors, drawing equally from vaudeville, garage music, and horror films. Known as the creator of shock-rock, Cooper (in both the original Alice Cooper band and as a solo artist) has shaken the cages and challenged the authority of generations of status quo guardians. Even in a time when CNN can show shocking images from real life, Cooper never ceases to astonish fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror film.
