Why have money in your bank account, when you can have an old-fashioned reel-to-reel tape recorder? Audio producer Revox has continued to build reel-to-reel devices even though prerecorded cassettes haven’t been marketed since roughly 1976. They have partnered with Alice Cooper to create a branded version of their famous B77 MK III recorder. A master tape of Cooper’s 2018 EP “The Sound of A”, which included the title track along with four iconic live cuts, “The Black Widow“, “Public Animal #9“, “Is It My Body“, and “Cold Ethyl“, is included with the machine, which retails for €27,000 (£23,123 / $29,565). If that wasn’t enough to make the €12,000 price increase over an unbranded B77 MK III recorder, Cooper personally signs and numbers each of the 25 limited edition machines. Later this year, buyers will have the opportunity to meet and greet the man in Munich and New York. A limited edition of fifty Alice Cooper-branded T77 turntables, costing €8950 (£7655 or $9800), has also been introduced by Revox.
I know sound quality and that’s why I’m so excited about the Alice Cooper limited editions from Revox. This really is the ultimate way to enjoy a true analogue music experience. These sound great. This audio sounds as good as it did in the studio. These real master tapes are strictly limited edition and signed by me. Revox also designed some limited edition tape machines and turntables which are also signed by me. These machines will perform incredibly well over many decades, just like I have and of course they’re incredibly good-looking, just like me.
