Alexisonfire drop heavy Shallow North Dakota cover “Cuz”, third taste of upcoming covers EP

Canadian post-hardcore mainstays Alexisonfire have released their take on “Cuz”, keeping the rollout of their Canadian covers EP moving after “Fully Completely” and “Misogyny.” The new single pays tribute to Hamilton noise-rock cult heroes Shallow North Dakota, whose original cut became a staple of 90s CanRock’s grimy underbelly. Meanwhile, the band’s EP, “Copies of Old Masters Vol. 1,” lands November 7 via Dine Alone.

The four-song set pulls from deep shelves, because that is exactly the point here. The tracklist spans Doughboys, Shallow North Dakota, The Tragically Hip, and Rusty. Earlier this month Alexisonfire kicked things off with “Fully Completely,” then followed with “Misogyny,” setting the tone for a gritty, guitar-first salute to 90s Canada. Today’s “Cuz” continues that arc with muscular riffs and a sandpaper vocal blend.

“Copies Of Old Masters: Volume 1” drops November 7 via Dine Alone Records. “Misogyny” is available below and on all streaming platforms.

  1. Neighbourhood Villain (Doughboys Cover)
  2. Cuz (Shallow North Dakota Cover)
  3. Fully Completely (The Tragically Hip Cover)
