In 2001, the Canadian post-hardcore band Alexisonfire was founded in St. Catharines, Ontario. Wade MacNeil (lead guitar, vocals), Chris Steele (bass), Jordan Hastings (drums, percussion), George Pettit (vocals), and Dallas Green (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards) make up the band. The band has received multiple accolades, and all of its albums have received gold or platinum certification in Canada. They became well-known in 2002 with their self-titled first album, which included their breakthrough track “Pulmonary Archery,” which combined aggressive and melodious themes. Their third album, “Crisis” (2006), established their international reputation and debuted at No. 1 on the Canadian Albums Chart, while their second album, “Watch Out!” (2004), achieved financial success in Canada. The 2009 album “Old Crows / Young Cardinals” carried on their development with a more experimental and heavy sound.

After a three-band breakup, the band was founded in late 2001. Green was the main vocalist and guitarist for Helicon Blue, MacNeil and Steele were members of the punk band Plan 9, and Pettit was a guitarist for the metal band Condemning Salem. When these bands disbanded simultaneously, Pettit, Steele, MacNeil, and Green formed Alexisonfire by bringing in drummer Jesse Ingelevics. The pornographic actress Alexis Fire served as the inspiration for the band’s name. Fire threatened to sue them after learning that they were using her website name as their band name, but no further action was taken once it was found that the pseudonym was not registered.
