Agriculture unleashes gnawing new single “The Weight” ahead of upcoming album

Los Angeles–based “ecstatic black metal” band Agriculture is offering fans another early taste of their upcoming sophomore album, “The Spiritual Sound”. The new single “The Weight” is now available to listen below with a lyric video and on streaming platforms.

Scheduled for release on October 3rd via The Flenser, “The Spiritual Sound” continues the band’s evolution from their 2023 debut and 2024’s “Living Is Easy” EP. The album is built around the complementary creative visions of co-vocalists Dan Meyer and Leah Levinson and emphasizes immersive, spiritual intensity rather than mere background noise.

“The Weight” is continuation to the first single “Bodhidharma“, which was released in July. Its confirms the band’s exploration of extremes—melding Zen-inspired catharsis, emotional depth, and devotional heaviness with communal, gritty authenticity.

“The Spiritual Sound” was produced by the band, recorded and mixed mainly by guitarist Richard Chowenhill, with engineering from Adam Hirsch, Colin Knight, and A.L.N., plus a guest vocal spot by Emma Ruth Rundle on the closing track, “The Reply”.

Thematically, the band continues to dismantle the idea of music as disposable content. Instead, this album demands attention—it’s about presence and spiritual weight, not polish or vibe.
