Even though Chris Adler, the former drummer for Lamb of God, has found his new chapter with the band Firstborne, there were still other options. The drummer disclosed in a recent interview with Blabbermouth that following his breakup with Lamb of God, a renowned thrash band inquired about his availability. Adler was questioned in the chat about if he is still asked to play on various objects.

It still happens, yes. In the past month, I’ve done maybe three or four for-hire things. I’m able to do those from the studio that I have in my house. I know people are going to expect me to do what I did in Lamb, but I want to challenge myself and do something else. Part of this chapter two is something new.

He then disclosed that one of the first calls he received after separating from Lamb of God came from the band Testament.

I don’t think they would mind saying it. I think Gene [Hoglan] was leaving Testament, and they got in touch right away. That was right when I decided to start chapter two.

After Hoglan left the band in 2022, former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo filled in for a spell until the band ultimately selected current drummer Chris Dovas to replace him more permanently in 2023. However, Adler claims that he was approached to determine his level of interest.

There were a lot of things going on. I was in the middle of a terrible divorce; my mom just died. I got diagnosed with an issue that was making things a lot more difficult at the time. It wasn’t right for me. There are opportunities, but I’m enjoying, right now, saying yes to the ones I like and being able to be comfortable enough to turn some things down.

Now his focus is with Firstborne.

I’m looking forward to doing some shows with these guys, having more fun and feeling a lot less pressure.
