Hard rock veterans A-Z are gearing up for the release of their second album “A2Z²”, set to drop on June 6, 2025, via Metal Blade Records. To build the hype, the band has unleashed a brand-new single, “I Am Numb”, following the earlier release of the punchy lead track “Nothing Is Over”. If the first single gave a taste of what’s to come, this latest one kicks things up a notch.
“I Am Numb” doesn’t waste any time getting to the point. It’s aggressive, direct, and packs an emotional punch—diving deep into the numbness many of us feel in the grind of everyday life. But it’s not all doom and gloom: under the surface lies a flicker of hope and resilience. The chorus is catchy as hell, and the musical vibe throws back to Rainbow’s classic “Kill the King”, blending riff-heavy energy with post-rock style echoes and explosive, rhythm-shifting drums.
The band’s lineup is stacked with talent. At the core are legendary drummer Mark Zonder (known for his work with Fates Warning and Warlord), vocalist Ray Alder (also from Fates Warning), and guitarist Nick Van Dyk from Redemption. Together, they kicked off the album’s creative process with “Nothing Is Over”, which set the tone for what’s shaping up to be a hard-hitting yet approachable release.
Backing them up is a top-tier supporting cast: bassist Philip Bynoe (who’s played with Steve Vai, Ring of Fire, and Warlord), Italian guitar maestro Simone Mularoni (of DGM, also handling the album’s mixing and mastering), and keyboard wizard Jimmy Waldo (Alcatrazz, New England). It’s a dream team bringing their A-game—and it shows.
